ABOUT THE ARTIST

Diane Rose has been taking landscape and travel photographs for over 25 years. Her love of this art form came from a long-held passion for travel, her desire to understand other cultures, and her love of photography.

Being an au pair to two young children in Geneva, Switzerland and rural France was Ms. Rose's first overseas experience, at the age of 17. Later she spent a year studying English literature and history at the University of London, Goldsmiths College in south east London.

These experiences helped fuel Ms. Rose's love of travel and desire to live abroad. After frequent return trips to the British Isles and Europe, Ms. Rose returned to Europe in 1987 to work for the UK subsidiary of Lotus Development, an American software company. From 1987-1990, she worked and lived in Paris, France; Windsor, England; and Dublin, Ireland.

A career in international software design introduced Ms. Rose to inter-cultural study and travel throughout the British Isles, Continental Europe and North Africa. She discovered photography as a powerful tool for recording and expressing the profound impact on her of vivid natural images and the color of local cultures. Her work combines her love of lighting, color, shapes and patterns -- whether man-made or naturally occurring -- to produce unique and artistic photographic images.

After a worsening medical condition forced Ms. Rose to retire from her  career as a software project manager and internationalization specialist, she turned her catalog of travel images into a small part-time business that markets her images for private and corporate collections and publication.

Ms. Rose lives with her husband in Newton, Massachusetts.  She has displayed her work in local and national juried shows and sold her photographs both nationally and internationally.
